The Suffering Servant

As we are all trying to grapple with what is going in the country with the death of Mr. George Floyd. There is so much pain and trauma that has been triggered and a desperate cry for justice. We are called to mourn with those that mourn, weep with those that weep. So many in hopelessness have become numb to this pain, they don't even talk about it( what is the point anyway?) As a person of color, I have accepted the fact that racism is an evil act that only God can solve. Does that mean that I shouldn't do anything? Absolutely not We all have a responsibility to be light in this fallen dark world. Some people are called to legislation, others are called to educate, broadcast, police, protect, among many other things. But we are all called to pray and get the heart of God, and his purpose in any situation. Numbing pain does not solve any problems. We have to face all pain and trauma and allow the love of God to heal the pain of the heart. One of the truths that help me deal with injustice is to look at Jesus, The Suffering Servant, The Righteous Judge. Colossians 1:19-20 For it pleased the Father that in Him all fullness should dwell. and by him to reconcile all things to Himself, By him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through His blood We want justice and we have to know how to obtain it from a righteous Judge. In Humility, God became a man to bring forth justice in the man Christ Jesus. The Creator of the universe humbled himself and experienced every injustice we will ever experience in this life and the commandment He asked of us to do, is to love one another. It will be hard-pressed to find justice without Him. Isaiah 53:1-12 1Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? 2For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. 3He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes, we are healed. 6All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, everyone, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. 7He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth. 8He was taken from prison and from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people, He was stricken. 9And they made His grave with the wicked— But with the rich at His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth. 10Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand. 11He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge, My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities. 12Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.

To make an impact we all have to know what is required of us. This is a very sad and sobering moment. We mourn and weep and we must learn to humble ourselves, to not only pray but to those called to legislate, legislate righteously, to those who are called to be doctors, lawyers, missionaries, philanthropists among many others do so as you look to the MASTER and JUDGE of all. We are servants and we can't lead well if we cant follow well. Let us look to Jesus who endured the worst injustice in an effort to heal us all so that we can know how to act at this moment.
