Business was going on as usual and then all of a sudden things changed just like that because of the COVID- 19 Virus. We are now experiencing a global disruption from everyday life and we are becoming more aware of what we have put our security in.
In counseling, you mostly hear people want to work on their insecurities. They mostly feel as though they are only experiencing life from the weakest areas of their lives and they want to find the strength.
They mostly feel fearful, worried, troubled among many other emotions.
They want to find a safe emotional place.
The dictionary defines secure as being free from fear, worry or other troubles.
Being secure means being free from danger and being safe
Without knowing we put our trust and hope in things that cannot give us the security we need(emotional, mental, spiritual peace). They are very temporal and uncertain.
We are convinced that we will find security in these things, which may vary for everyone.
Some trust in power positions, others in money, investments and so many other things.
The challenge with these things is that we have no guarantee that we will be safe since they are always changing. Which actually increases our fears and anxieties.
With everything going on, we all have to remove all these false forms of security and put our trust and hope in God. Why????
For when God made the promise to Abraham, He swore [an oath] by Himself, since He had no one greater by whom to swear, 14 saying, “I will surely bless you and I will surely multiply you.” 15 And so, having patiently waited, he realized the promise [in the miraculous birth of Isaac, as a pledge of what was to come from God]. 16 Indeed men swear [an oath] by one greater than themselves, and with them [in all disputes] the oath serves as confirmation [of what has been said] and is an end of the dispute. 17 In the same way God, in His desire to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable nature of His purpose, intervened and guaranteed it with an oath, 18 so that by two unchangeable things [His promise and His oath] in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled [to Him] for refuge would have strong encouragement and indwelling strength to hold tightly to the hope set before us. 19 This hope [this confident assurance] we have as an anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whatever pressure bears upon it]—a safe and steadfast hope that enters within the veil [of the heavenly temple, that most Holy Place in which the very presence of God dwells], 20 where Jesus has entered [in advance] as a forerunner for us, having become a High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.
No matter how hard it gets, it's impossible for God to lie when He makes a promise. Give God a chance and whenever the fears and anxieties come in to play just as you think about the false forms of security, this time open your heart to what God says until you find safety, hope, trust.
