Trusting God................. Life experiences have a way of shaping the lenses through which we see or understand God. It's through these lenses that we can either trust God or not.
Our experiences have a way of creating facts that eventually can become evidence for our beliefs.
Some of these experiences scar and wound our hearts so much that we may actually take on identities that are false without realizing.
In other words, we lose ourselves in our pain and we identify with things that are very limiting for example, a person who has experienced consistent rejection from primary people like parents, teachers, peers among others can come to believe that no one will ever like me for who I am, I will always be on the outside looking in among so many. These beliefs prevent us from trusting God since our beliefs don't just turn off because we now want God. Beliefs are a result of the heart experiences. If you have never experienced kindness, are by default going to project on God that He is not Kind. Why? because your heart experienced facts to prove the belief.
Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Seeing God is how we perceive Him to be and our perception will determine our ability to trust Him.
If you had this conversation with God, what would your perspective be?
Me: (in a tizzy): God, can I ask you something?
Me: Promise you won't get mad?
Me (frustrated): why did you let so much stuff happen to me today?
God: What do you mean?
Me: well I woke up late,
me: my car took forever to start,
me: (growling): At lunch, they made my sandwich wrong and i had to wait
Me: on the way home, my phone went dead, just as I picked up a call
God: all right
Me(loudly): and to top it all off, when I got home, I just wanted to soak my feet in my foot massager and relax, but it wouldn't work. Nothing went right today! why did you do that?
God: well let me see... the death angel was at your bed this morning and I had to send one other angel to battle him for your life. I let you sleep throughout that.
God: I didn't let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that might have hit you if you were on the road
God: the first person who made your sandwich today was sick and I didn't want you to catch what they have, I knew you couldn't afford to miss work
Me: (embarrassed): Oh
God: Your phone went dead because the person that was calling was going to give a false witness about what you said on that call, I didn't even let you talk to them so you would be covered
Me: ( softly): I see God
God: Oh and that foot massager, it had a short fuse that was going to throw out all of the power in your house tonight. I didn't think you wanted to be in the dark.
Me: I'm sorry God.
God: Don't be sorry, just learn to trust me.........in all things, the good and the bad
Me: I WILL trust you, God
God: and don't doubt that my plan for your day is always better than your plan
Me: I won't God. And let me just tell you God, thank you for everything today.
God: You are welcome child. It was just another day being your God and I love looking after my children.
2Samuel 22:31 As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried; he is a buckler to all them that trust in him
proverbs 3:5 trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not to thine own understanding
Hebrews 2:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
In Life, whether you have what you think you should or not, we are all faced with challenges. Yet it is our responsibility to partner with God to let go of all wounds and scars that hinder us from trusting God. We have to heal from pain, resentments, judgments, bitterness among other wounds.
