Free Will Choice

Free Will And Choice

Free Will Choice is Holy Ground

Each person’s process is holy ground because the Lord honors His gift to us of free will. Every place of dealing with the Lord is holy unto Him. Even our resistance is considered holy because it is our choice, which is a powerful force we wield. Again, all grounds of dealing, both positive and negative, are holy unto the Lord because our Lord places that much worth on our choice. He gave us the power to choose as a gift, and He attributes to it great significance. Yes, the Lord honors our choice, often more than we do.

Holy Ground

Some of us are more spiritually mature while others are still babes, but regardless of where we fall on this spectrum, our living process is sacred. This truth makes me completely reluctant to express my opinion where any man is concerned. I try to keep my discernments, judgments and thoughts to myself unless the Lord asks me to speak. It doesn’t matter where we are in our journey, God views that ground as holy.

I’ve witnessed people making broad proclamations of their maturity, all the while not having enough life under their belt to test their resolve. And what I’ve found is that God doesn’t have scorn for this position but rather protection. His views are different than ours. I would say, “Let’s see how that plays out in actual living and over time.” But God, on the other hand, places huge value on our walk because it is holy. Imagine, our process is holy?!

Does this mean everything we do, say, or are is right or righteous? Certainly not! It just means that the Lord is jealous for the places that He sets up for us to meet Him. It’s a holy ground of meeting! It’s like I wrote in my recent post, Abram pitched his tent in between the cities of Bethel and Ai, and the ground was holy because of the Lord and Abram’s choice to be set apart.

You can also see this in Jacob, Abraham’s grandson. Even his place of wrestling was holy ground, because it was about Jacob’s heart and choice. God set the stage for Jacob to wring out his heart with Him. This made the very ground holy. God honors our choices so much. Free will is a powerful force.

Making Choices

Each of us are in the realm of our own holy ground. We each are actively making choices for or against God, and God defends our right to choose. He values our choice whether we do or not. I previously believed my choice didn’t have much power but have since found that it has huge capability. My choice will direct and redirect my course for God or away from Him.

And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15 ESV
