As someone that has been given a second chance at life. I have experienced the pain of regret and wasting my life. Something I didn’t even know was important enough to have an impact on my life.

As I lay down on my deathbed not knowing what was wrong with my health and not even the doctors couldn’t diagnose. I came face to face with the reality that I could actually die and I had no control over that reality. As I lay on that bed, I kept asking myself whether I had served the purpose I existed for on earth. I felt a strong responsibility that there was something I had to do and yet I knew that I hadn't accomplished that task. I had believed at that time, that my purpose in life was to just enjoy it and then get serious about it when I got old. In other words, I would be reckless with my life until I was about to die. And I don't know anyone who knows the day they will die.

I have had the privilege to volunteer my time with hospice patients because I experienced something similar to what they experience. Every time I would sit next to a patient, it seems as though everything in the outside world became very small in comparison to what was at hand.

Everyone’s experience on that bed differs based on how they lived their lives before they got to this bed. Those that felt had lived meaningful and purposeful lives, had an internal peace about them while those that were not prepared sometimes struggled with many negative emotions thoughts that would manifest in their bodies and conversations.

When you are confined to a bed and you are waiting for your health to get better, you are put in a situation where you are forced to think especially about your life, where you are, where you are going and whether you are prepared or not to face whatever is ahead.
Now in our day to day life, we plan everything, including how we will be buried. We plan our financial futures, health among other things. We want to feel secure that we will be okay. But have you ever wondered what will happen to you if you were to lie on that bed and have the privilege to think about your life? What would it look like?

I wish I had made better choices in my life when I was lying on my death bed, but I hadn’t. I was hoping that God would give me a chance to live because it felt as though I hadn’t really lived my life.

I realized that if God gave me another chance, I would live my life with intentionality to not only have a meaningful but also a purposeful life while I was enjoying it.

As a result, I have seen a difference in my life as I found my purpose, something I never had a concept of before.
Our negligence on living purposeful and meaningful lives cause us to suffer. Sometimes that suffering is usually emotional and spiritual but it also gets out of the invisible realm into the tangible world whereby others can also be affected.

As a life coach, I want to help those that feel that there is more to life than what they are experiencing right now. I will help you identify goals to reach in life, identify the things that may block your ability to accomplish those goals. I want to support you in making choices that will help you live a meaningful and purposeful life.

We all have a purpose in life. It is our responsibility to not only find what that purpose is but to fulfill it.

I always use the analogy of fruits to make a point of how humans can be different in their individuality. As much as we have many fruits in the world, they all require different environments to flourish. For example, a mango tree cannot grow in cold climate environments. If you planted a mango tree in New York for example in the middle of the winter season, it would not be fair to expect mangoes from that mango tree. If that tree could talk it would probably be angry that it didn’t bring forth any mangoes, it may or may not know why but  It’s the farmer’s responsibility to know this.

So If you were a fruit, do you know what fruit you would be ? Would you know the type of environment you would need to thrive? Would you know the benefits you offer to others? Would you know the consequences others would suffer from your inability to know yourself and responsibility?
As a human being it your responsibility to know why you are here on earth and it’s your responsibility to make choices that will lead you to this goal.

Sometimes because of life’s circumstances you may find yourself stuck and not know how to get out. You may need a coach or counselor to work with you on your journey to living a purposeful and meaningful life.
